Need more information related to human communication, workplace learning and human performance improvement, organizational communication, or communication research methods, then check out the following links.
James C. McCroskey's Web Site
This web site originally created by yours truly pays homage to the immense body of work in communication by James C. McCroskey, De. D. As the most prolific writer in the field of communication, his web site contains over 200 peer-reviewed research articles, copies of out-of-print texts, and many other helpful files for students and researchers.
Research Methods Knowledge Base
"The Research Methods Knowledge Base is a comprehensive web-based textbook that addresses all of the topics in a typical introductory undergraduate or graduate course in social research methods. It covers the entire research process including: formulating research questions; sampling (probability and nonprobability); measurement (surveys, scaling, qualitative, unobtrusive); research design (experimental and quasi-experimental); data analysis; and, writing the research paper." While you can purchase the entire Knowledge Base from Atomic Dog Publishing, you can get most of the information for free from the web site.
Dictionary of Open Access Journals
Academic knowledge is quickly becoming too expensive for both the general public and scholars alike. For this reason, numerous journals have decided to publish their research articles free of charge online. The Directory of Open Access Journals is a clearinghouse for the majority of open access journals - many of which are communication related.
Learning Tools Directory
Jane Hart has created one of the most comprehensive lists of learning software programs on the internet. Whether you are looking for comprehensive learning software that costs thousands of dollars or you are looking for freeware, Jane's list is the go-to list for all things educational software.
Lynda.com
If you're not familiar with Lynda.com, you should be. If you are a technophile, then Lynda.com is the go-to place for learning software. While the site is a for-profit organization, the software training is some of the best anywhere. Most of the facilitators are certified trainers from various software manufacturers, so you know you're getting the same quality training that others spend thousands of dollars on for a 1 or 2 day seminar.
Graphic Novel version of the 9-11 Commission Report
I purchased this graphic novel when it was first released. While this site has nothing to do with communication or education, I think it's a document every concerned US citizen should read. While you may balk at the idea of taking a document as serious as the 9-11 Commission Report and turning it into a graphic novel, the content within this graphic novel mirrors what the report said does so in a much more concise and understandable fashion.
